Sophie Blouet

Sophie Blouet
Watercolor painting exhibit and workshops
Workshops: 1:30pm to 2pm, 2:45pm to 3:15pm, 4pm to 4:30pm

Born in Paris and raised in France, Sophie Blouet draws on experience gathered while living and traveling in Europe, South America, North Africa and the American West.
A painter with a fine appreciation of the sea, Blouet finds inspiration in seascapes, nautical activities and people. An avid sailor in her own right, Blouet is drawn to the sea whenever an opportunity presents. A three-year sojourn in Holland exposed her to a particularly Dutch style of watercolor painting, and particularly Dutch seascape and landscape portrayals, which continue to influence her approach to painting. Equally at home on land, Blouet's eye captures unique light and depth in landscape scenes. Travels in Chile, North America, Morocco and throughout Europe have enhanced an appreciation for local and regional color. Driven by a special interest in portraiture, Blouet has made studies on people and places from around the world.
Blouet makes her home in Colorado Springs in the American West. A teacher and mother of three, Blouet pursues her study of watercolor painting in tandem with a passion for Karate, where she has attained black belt rating.

Playing French in Seattle: Matei Visniec's "Le Deuxième Tilleul à Gauche" 3:15pm-4pm

Matei Visniec, born on January 29th 1956 in Romania, is a French playwright, poet and journalist.

In 1991, he was honored by the union of theater people for the best theater piece of the year and in 1992, he received the price of the Union of Romanian writers for drama. In 1992 he began to write in French, after three years in France. In 1993, he obtained French nationality. In October 1996, the National Theater of Timisoara organized a festival "Matéi Visniec" with ten of his plays presented by twelve companies.
Several of his plays are presented at the Festival d'Avignon.

With “Le deuxième Tilleul à gauche”, it’s the triumph of "theater in the theater”, removing the mechanisms of illusion. In two acts strictly parallel and complementary, a man and a woman make a fellow-spectator believe that they are responsible for the actions of their vis-à-vis. Puppeteers manipulated, they emphasize the reversals cause-effect / effect-cause, which can be applied to both the theater and life.
